Starving College Student PDF Print E-mail
When I was a starving college student- there simply wasn't money in the budget for a Christmas tree, decorations, etc. I did want my apartment to look festive though, so I fired up the creative juices and came up with some desperation ideas that actually worked well.
I bought a green garland at a yard sale for .25 -- I then taped it to my solid wood living room door, in the shape of a Christmas tree. I took small boxes (jewelry boxes, cut down medicine boxes, Jello boxes, etc) and covered them with fabric scraps and yarn. I then hung the "packages" on my "tree".
I scavaged some old magazines from friends, relatives and recycle bins and cut out holiday pictures, which I then glued to thin cardboard (covers from spiral notebooks mainly) Some of these became more ornaments for my "tree", some became my Christmas village- by adding more cardboard stands, and some became window decorations. by Denise (aka sunshine)
